Arriva to name bus after Gareth Ainsworth

26 August 2015

Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth is one of five local legends to be honoured by Arriva bus company at the launch of their new fleet.

Arriva are unveiling five new single-decker vehicles to serve High Wycombe and the local community and ran a regional campaign to find inspirational icons whose names would be dedicated to each bus.

Ainsworth was selected as a result of his outstanding achievements at Adams Park, leading his side to the play-off final at Wembley last season, and playing a major role on the pitch in the club's promotion to League 1 in 2011.

Also being honoured are Dr Frances Alexander - head of the Wycombe Environment Centre, Peter Cartwright - former county councillor, district councillor and mayor, Benjamin Disraeli - Earl of Beaconsfield and former Prime Minister, and Ricki Akhter Hussein, who was selected for his charity and volunteer work as well as being a former councillor and deputy mayor.

The five buses will carry the first name of each legend and will be unveiled at a private event at Adams Park in September.
