Anthony Stewart ruled out for four months

25 August 2015

Wanderers expect to be without defender Anthony Stewart until Christmas following the results of a scan on a knee injury.

The centre-back rejoined the club in the summer and scored on the opening day of the season in the 3-0 victory against York City, only to sustain the injury in the Capital One Cup clash with Fulham three days later, ruling him out for up to four months.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “It’s a big blow to lose someone of Anthony’s quality for such a long period of time, particularly as he’d performed so well for us throughout pre-season and in the first two games.

“Any injury will stretch a small squad like ours but we know we have a first-class medical team who will ensure Anthony goes through the best possible rehab programme to get him back to full fitness.”

There is better news though, with fellow defender Danny Rowe being close to returning to the side after an injury he picked up in the 2-0 win at Barnet.
