Poppy appeal launch raises £643.72

27 October 2014

The Royal British Legion have thanked Blues fans for their donations of £643.72 at Saturday's launch of the Poppy Appeal.

Club president Monty Seymour, who is also president of the High Wycombe branch of the Legion, led a special ceremony on the pitch before kick-off, which was also attended by the Mayor of High Wycombe, the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire and the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire.

Supporters were able to receive poppies in return for a donation to the Legion to assist with their work with service personnel past, present and future, in the centenary year of the start of World War I.

It is the fourth consecutive year that Adams Park has hosted the launch, and follows a recent visit to the battlefields of the Somme by the Wanderers' management and playing squad.

We have today received a note of thanks from the Legion, passing on its gratitude to the club and its supporters for their 'outstanding' support of the appeal.
