Somme photo book now on sale

11 November 2014

Wycombe Wanderers are proud to publish a photo booklet with previously unseen images from the club’s recent trip to the World War I battlefields.

Fans can collect a booklet in return for a suggested donation of £2 from the Information Centre at Adams Park, and the Royal British Legion's pop-up shop in the Chiltern Shopping Centre in High Wycombe (open 10-5pm each day until the end of November).

You can also buy a booklet online for £2 (plus £1 to cover postage, packaging and fees) by clicking here. All proceeds from the sale of the 20-page booklet will go directly to the poppy appeal at the High Wycombe branch of the Royal British Legion.

This limited edition piece contains quotes from the players as they recall their memories from the trip, which included visits to the resting places of footballers who served in the war, and the memorial to the Footballers’ Battalions at Longueval.

Also included are messages from PFA chairman Gordon Taylor OBE, and a foreword from Phil Stant and Andrew Riddoch, who hosted the Blues on the Great War Centenary Tour.

The booklet was kindly printed free of charge by Your Print Solution in High Wycombe, meaning that every penny goes to help the Legion’s ongoing work with servicemen and women past and present.

Meanwhile, the club's documentary of the Somme trip can be seen below or by clicking here.
