Alan Parry pays tribute to the actor Warren Clarke, who has died at the age of 67.I was very saddened to hear about the death of that fine actor and former Wanderers fan Warren Clarke.
I first met Warren when I played football against his pal Dennis Waterman's charity team over 25 years ago. When I discovered that he lived locally I invited him along to one of our sportsmens' dinners where he met our manager of the time, Martin O'Neill.
The two of them got on famously and Warren liked the club so much that he decided to buy a season ticket for Wanderers and for several years he was an enthusiastic supporter.
He even made a cameo appearance in the last ever game at our old ground Loakes Park, though he wouldn't have minded me saying that he was somewhat overshadowed that day by a certain George Best!
As his acting career blossomed, Warren found it difficult to get to many of our games but he continued to follow the club's fortunes from afar.
I last bumped into him at a Manchester City game that I was commentating on a couple of years ago and he was his usual gregarious self, a joy to be with.
Warren will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and those who admired his performances in films and on TV.
