Wanderers are pleased to announce that Nathan Evans will join the club after winning Samsung's Win a Pro Contract competition.
Winger Evans, 19, of Grangetown, Middlesbrough, beat more than 5,700 entrants to win the life-changing playing contract with the League 2 club.
Evans made it through a series of regional trials and assessment days, before competing in an 11-a-side Final at Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium in March.
Following the Final, Evans was one of two players selected by Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth to spend a few days of intense ‘boot camp’ training with the first-team squad.
Evans, who currently plays for Whitby Town FC, finally triumphed in the Samsung Win A Pro Contract competition after impressing Ainsworth and his coaching staff.
He said: “It feels great to have won. I always believed I could win. If you don’t believe you can win there is no point in entering the competition.
“This is the first step on the football ladder for me. I’m not the finished article yet. I have a long way to go and there is a lot in my game to improve on.”
Evans will join up with the Wycombe Wanderers playing squad after signing his professional playing contract in June.
Wycombe boss Ainsworth said: “Nathan showed some fantastic technical ability. He also looked comfortable within the squad environment, which can be daunting for any new player, never mind a 19-year-old on trial.
“I am looking forward to working with Nathan. He has seized this chance with both hands. I am looking forward to working with him.”
Sky Sports will later this year screen a three-part documentary about the players from all over the UK who entered the Samsung Win A Pro Contract competition.
Jake Burgess, 16, of Whiteparish, Wilts, won a pro contract with competition partner club Leyton Orient. And Josue (corr) Antonio, 18, of Mitcham, South London, won a pro contract with competition partner club Swindon Town.
