Gary Doherty has pledged his commitment to the club for the 2014/15 season, signing a one-year contract to remain an integral part of Gareth Ainsworth’s squad.
‘Doc’ originally arrived on a loan deal from Charlton Athletic on the same day as new signing Paul Hayes in 2012, bringing with him a wealth of top-flight and international experience.
The Irishman penned a permanent two-year deal that summer and has played 60 times for the Chairboys in total, scoring four times.
A broken arm and dislocated elbow in February this year brought his season to an early end but Doherty is expected to be fully fit in time for pre-season training and Ainsworth is delighted to retain his man:
“Everyone knows what Doc is about and he brings so much to the club, not just on the pitch but his character and his experience in the dressing room.
“He hit a really good run of form before his injury and we missed him after that. He has got plenty more to offer so I’m really pleased he’s agreed to stay because he’s an important player for us.”
