Premier League giants Chelsea will be the opponents for Matt Bloomfield’s testimonial at Adams Park on Wednesday 16th July (k.o. 7.45pm).
‘Blooms’ is currently celebrating his 10-year anniversary as a Wanderers player and will go head-to-head with the side he faced in arguably his greatest career achievement, reaching the Carling Cup semi-finals in 2007.
Chelsea have confirmed that Jose Mourinho will be bringing a squad including a number of first-team players for this friendly, and Bloomfield says he can’t wait to mark his testimonial in style:
He said: “It’s a real honour for me that Chelsea have agreed to come and play here for my testimonial. I’ve got great memories of playing them before, even if the result didn’t go our way in the end, and I can’t wait for it to come around as I’m sure it’ll be a night to remember, not just for me personally but for the fans as well.”
Ticket prices, hospitality packages and sponsorship opportunities for this game will be announced in due course, but supporters are encouraged to save the date to ensure they can support this special occasion.
The previously arranged fixture against Aston Villa, scheduled for Tuesday 15th July, will no longer take place.
