The big preview: Burton

25 March 2014

Wanderers will be looking to return to winning ways tonight (Tuesday) when they take on high-flying Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium (k.o 7.45pm).

Blues have been tough to beat on the road and have lost just twice in their last nine away games, but they have also won only twice during the same sequence with draws being the most frequent result.

Burton come into the game on the back of a three-match winless streak, but Gary Rowett’s side are currently fifth in League 2 and could move above Fleetwood Town with victory tonight.

Victories at the Pirelli Stadium have been hard to come by with the Brewers winning one of their last five at home.

Gareth Ainsworth

“On the whole we’ve done very well on the road, barring York last week where we didn’t play anywhere near to the level we’re capable of.

“But we’ve got to respect Burton as they’re in the top six for a reason so we’ll have to raise our game, but I've got faith in the boys.

“All they need to do is just start hitting the back of the net and we’ll be fine.”

Gary Rowett – talking to Burton’s official website

“Tuesday is going to be another big game but there is no more pressure on the Wycombe game that there was on the Scunthorpe game at the weekend.

“Not many people would have expected us to go to Scunthorpe and dominate proceedings for the first forty five minutes in the way that we did so every game is different.

“Teams at the bottom end of the table are scrapping for everything to try and stay up. I am sure they will try and make it very, very difficult for us, but we have to try and concentrate on what we do and just try and do those things a little bit better than we did in the last game to come out with the win.”

Team news

Strikers Matt McClure, Steven Craig (both hamstring) and Jo Kuffour remain injury doubts, with Craig the likeliest of that trio to return.

Paris Cowan-Hall (ankle) remains on the sidelines, but Reece Styche should be fit to feature despite being substituted on Saturday after taking a blow to his knee.

Midfielder Callum McFadzean could be in line for his Burton debut after joining on loan from Sheffield United, while defenders Ian Sharps (calf) and Marcus Holness are being closely monitored.
