Recommended road directions
Take the normal route to the northbound M1 (M40 to Junction 10, then A43 towards Northampton). Leave the M1 at Junction 32 to join the M18 motorway (s/p Hull). Leave the M18 at Junction 2 and join the A1 motorway (s/p “The North”). At J38 continue forward on the A1 (s/p The North, Leeds). Continue forward on the A1 (M).
Leave the A1 (M) at J44 then merge onto the A64 (signposted York). After almost 10 miles take the 2nd exit at the roundabout onto the A1237 (s/p York (North), Harrogate, Thirsk). Go straight on at the next four roundabouts and at the next take the 3rd exit onto Shipton Road (A19). Continue on the A19 for around two miles and then turn left into Bootham Crescent.
Coach Travel
OWWSA will be running a coach that will leave Adams Park at 8.30am. Travel prices are £26 for Adults, £25 for students/seniors, and £24 for children. Places cost £3 extra for non-members. The preferred way to book is by calling into the Vere Suite today. If you wish to book by phone (01296 429307) or by email ( you need to do so by Thursday at 5pm. After that time they cannot guarantee you a seat on the coach. OWWSA will try and accommodate everyone who books this way, until the coach is full.
Travelling by rail?
York is served by trains from London Kings Cross the fastest journey time being a little under two hours. York Station is around a mile from the ground and the walk will take you about 20 minutes. Turn left outside the station and follow the road down over the river. Just before you get to York Minster take a left turn past the Theatre Royal. Take the next left down Bootham. Continue along Bootham and after the Churchill Hotel turn right into Bootham Crescent.
Facilities for away fans
Away fans are housed in the open Grosvenor Road Terrace. A further 300 seats are made available to away supporters in the Popular Stand, which unlike the open terrace is covered. After paying to enter the terrace you can then pay a £1 transfer fee to go into the seated area. If you arrive early enough there is limited street parking to be found in the vicinity of the ground, in particular in the side roads off Burton Stone Lane. Watch out for Residents Only Parking Zones. An alternative is to use a pay and display car park in the city centre and walk back out to the ground.
Around the stadium
The nearest hostelry is “The Burton Stone” situated on the A19 as you near the ground. This is popular with away fans. Going back down the A19 (away from the city centre) there is the 'Old Grey Mare' which tends to be a lot quieter. There is a supporters club called the Pitchside Bar, which is situated on one corner of the ground. This usually allows in away supporters. The ground is about a 15-minute walk from the City Centre where there can be found a good selection of hostelries and food outlets.
