No bye for the Blues in the JPT

30 July 2014

Wanderers will participate from the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy after they were not awarded a bye in the competition.

The draw for the first round, which will be made on 16th August, will pair the Blues with one of the following clubs in the South West section:

Cheltenham Town
Coventry City
Newport County
Oxford United
Portsmouth
Swindon Town
Yeovil Town

Meanwhile, the Football League have confirmed that the vanishing spray, made famous in the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, will be used in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy competition this season, to ensure defenders retreat the full 10 yards when defending a free-kick.

Football League Chief Executive Shaun Harvey said: “Having seen it used in the recent World Cup, the introduction of Vanishing Spray into the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy will give us the opportunity to observe its use in domestic football so that we can better understand its effect on the flow of the game.  It will also give us the ability to gauge the opinions of players, managers, referees and fans.”
