The big preview - Morecambe

10 January 2014

Wanderers will be looking to do the double over the Shrimps at the Globe Arena on Saturday (k.o. 3pm).

“It’s just been one point out of the last three games, which hasn’t been good enough.

Jim Bentley – speaking to the Lancashire Evening Post

“They have some good passers in the team so we’ll have to be on it. We gave them a good go on the first day of the season and I’m expecting more of the same from us again.”

“They were battling with us last year and I remember going up there and getting a result around Easter time. It would be nice to replicate that, but it’ll be tough.

“They like to play and Jim Bentley has a certain way of doing that. They've exceeded expectations and done really well.

Gareth Ainsworth – speaking to Chairboys Player

Such is the tight nature of SkyBet League 2 this season, a triumph for Gareth Ainsworth’s men could see them move up three places and to within just six points of Morecambe, who currently occupy ninth spot.

That success kept Wycombe’s unbeaten record against their hosts in tact, having won six and drawn three of the nine meetings.

Paris Cowan-Hall’s first-half header saw the Chairboys come out on top when the two sides went head-to-head at Adams Park on the opening day of the campaign.
“But we’ve got a great opportunity to get back to winning ways at home against Wycombe. They are similar to us in respect that they started the season well. When we were having that decent run, they were too but they’ve tailed off massively since then.

“They were beaten 3-0 last weekend and are on a sticky spell. It’s a long trip up here for them so hopefully we are playing them at a good time.

“They have still got threats in their team and I am sure Gareth Ainsworth will have them up for the match.”

Team News
Matt Spring
is in contention after recovering from a calf injury, but the game could come too soon for Kortney Hause (groin) and Dean Morgan (hamstring).

As for the hosts, midfielders Ryan Williams (hamstring) and Andrew Wright (groin) are in a race against time to be fit. Meanwhile, Marcus Marshall is still out with a knee complaint.
