Away fan praises matchday experience

7 January 2014

The club received the following email from an AFC Wimbledon supporter after Saturday’s fixture between the two sides at Adams Park on Saturday:

"My friend and I travelled to the game on Saturday not really expecting the game to be on. However, regardless of the result, I just wanted to express my admiration for your club, officials and fans who, in combination, provided an almost-perfect customer experience.
Firstly your website was extremely informative as to any potential pitch inspections etc - and what a pitch! We were astonished to see what fabulous nick it was in considering the monsoon conditions that have prevailed over the past few weeks.

We dropped into a pub (The General Havelock) before the game where we met a handful of Wanderers fans. Not only were they extremely welcoming, they also volunteered to lead the way to the ground and show us where to park. That degree of local information is extremely helpful to visiting fans and we were most grateful for their kind assistance.

Once at the ground, the stewards and some fans very warmly welcomed us and we were 'frisked' with good humour.

Once in the ground, the toilets were clean, the food outlets were well organised and the queues were minimal.

On the way out, a number of Wycombe fans congratulated us on the victory and shook our hands whilst the stewards wished us a safe journey home. Even the fact that the screen said 'Dons' was a nice touch.

I genuinely don't think I would have any different views if we had lost the game. I have been to many, many grounds following Wimbledon since the early sixties and I have honestly never enjoyed such a warm, genuine and customer-friendly experience as I did at Wycombe.

I would take this opportunity to wish you every possible success for the future and to just say a big warm thank you.

Regards,

Terry Palmer"
