Wycombe Wanderers are saddened to report the passing of Cyril Rance due to illness.
The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Cyril’s friends and family. A true blue.
“Blue blood ran through his veins and he was very a very knowledgeable man, especially about the Wanderers.”
Promotions manager and fellow close friend Mike Phillips added: “Cyril was one of the nicest, most genuine people you will ever meet.
“He was a great help and I will miss him greatly. A top man, a 100% Wycombe man.”
Former groundsman and kitman Jim Gardner said: “Cyril helped me around the ground until he was about 86. People spoke about (Simon) Garner and (Cyrille) Regis being the oldest partnership, but me, Cyril and Jake Sprake were streets ahead!
Despite his illness not allowing him to attend matches at Adams Park in recent years, the World War II veteran continued to pay the club for his season ticket.
High Wycombe-born Cyril, who turned 91 on Monday, was a life-long Wanderers supporter, season-ticket holder and director of the Blues’ Development Fund.
