Here we go: Blues must create more

5 February 2014

Stuart Lewis says Wanderers need to start creating more chances if they are to move away from danger in Sky Bet League 2.

Chairboys welcome Accrington Stanley to Adams Park on Saturday (k.o 3pm) and skipper Lewis acknowledged that the Blues need to improve in the final third.

“I’m the captain of this team and it falls heavily on me,” the midfielder told Chairboys Player.

“Every day I work hard to get a win and turn it around and everyone needs to do that, but we are in a relegation battle, there are no two-ways about it. It’s about being a man now, taking a deep breath and pulling your shoulders back.

“Everyone that travelled knows we put effort in and its small margins, but we need to put the ball in the back of the net, that’s the bottom line and we haven’t done that in the last four or five games.

“We’ve only scored two or three during that time and that’s not enough. We need to stand up, be men and take what comes at us.

“We’re all behind Gaz and I don’t think it’s a lack of commitment. That’s there, it’s about the finer moments.

“Bury really hurt. It was a massive game for us and we all knew the severity of it. It was a disappointing loss and one that we’ve taken pretty hard.

“It’s small margins and their goal came from their goalkick and they’ve manufactured a goal out of it. It’s just so disappointing because we’re not beaten by twos, threes, fours every week but we’re still losing.”

Wanderers have reduced admission in an attempt to boost the crowd for Saturday’s crucial clash.
