Blooms hoping for double celebration

17 February 2014

Matt Bloomfield kicks off his testimonial year with a special fans’ evening on Saturday, and the midfielder says it would be the perfect day if Blues could also beat Chesterfield.

A number of ex-Wanderers have already signed up for the evening including Keith Ryan, Matt Phillips, Danny Senda, Sergio Torres and Ben Strevens, as well as former boss John Gorman, and Blooms is hoping for a double reason to celebrate.

“Everything is in place for Saturday evening!,” he told Chairboys Player.

“I’m really looking forward to it and it’s really kind for a lot of the ex-players to come back and visit the club for the Saturday evening.

“It’s their time and they’ve given it up for me and for our supporters – I don’t think you would find that at many other clubs.

“The players want to come back and see the fans, they’ve got a lot of affiliation to the club and are coming back for that just as much as they are coming for me.

“It’s really kind of them and I’m really chuffed with the amount of tickets we’ve sold so far. I’m excited and there will be a lot of wandering down memory lane.

“It’ll be a good night and should be lots of fun as well, it will be a great way to kick off the year. We’ve got other plans in place as well and I’m hoping to announce more details about the golf day soon.

“Off the pitch it’s exciting times and hopefully on Saturday we can keep moving forwards and make those exciting times on the pitch as well.

“If we can perform well and pick up the three points then it would be the perfect start to the day and we can enjoy the evening even more.”

Local band – and Wanderers fans - Subrosa5 will be providing the music, while there are plenty of Q&As planned with the former players , as well as a variety of games. Food will also be available.
