Wood: United we stand to succeed

18 September 2013

Sam Wood says the tremendous team camaraderie is a major reason behind the Blues’ recent run of results.

Wood has played a pivotal role as the Chairboys have climbed to 5th in Sky Bet League 2 with 10 points from a possible 12, as well as progressing to the second round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
"The togetherness we’ve got as a squad is phenomenal,” he told Chairboys Player. “I’ve never experienced team spirit like it; it’s the best I’ve been involved with.

"The feeling on the pitch with the lads and the fans after Plymouth - you don’t get that a lot. In the dressing room afterwards, we had the music blaring and everyone was dancing.

"We treat every game as a cup final and we’re going in and getting the results."

The 27-year-old will be looking to add to his stunning 25-yard strike in the 3-0 win at Plymouth Argyle when York City visit Adams Park at the weekend.

He said: "I don't make it easy do I?! It's nice to get on the scoresheet. I dug it out and managed to find top bins.

"A good performance is the main thing. We were under a bit of pressure as well. The goal took the pressure off us and we went on and scored a few more."

As a special offer for the York fixture, a ticket for a family of four (two adults, one junior and one child) will cost just £30, while regular prices start from £7 for juniors, £11 for young adults, £13 for seniors and £17 for adults.

U7s can enjoy this and every other league fixtures for FREE in the Family Stand.
