Goals from Jon-Paul Pittman, Jo Kuffour, Josh Scowen and Anthony Stewart helped the Blues to a comfortable 4-2 victory at Chalfont St Peter in the B&B Senior Cup first round.
Pittman opened the scoring on a difficult pitch after neat link-up play between Lee Angol and Matt Bloomfield found the striker on the edge of the area. The 26-year-old played a one-two with Kuffour who back-heeled the ball back for Pittman to drill into the bottom corner.
The lead was doubled three minutes later when Kuffour slotted in from close-range after Junior Morias’ initial effort had been well saved by Chalfont keeper Dane Bass.
Chalfont reduced the deficit on the half-hour when former Watford, Brentford and Wimbledon man Scott Fitzgerald was played in on goal and fired low past Lee Harrison.
However, Wanderers restored their two-goal cushion on the stroke of half-time when Morias’ cross was helped on by Kuffour and Scowen made no mistake, firing low into the far corner from 10 yards.
Scowen, who looked lively on his return from injury, saw another effort well saved after the break, before Harrison turned away another Fitzgerald strike.
Paris Cowan-Hall made his return from injury with 15 minutes remaining and nine minutes later Stewart powered home a header from Matt Spring’s corner to make it 4-1.
Fitzgerald headed home with two minutes left for a late Chalfont consolation, but the Blues had already done more than enough with Cowan-Hall looking a real threat after his introduction.
