Steven Craig has given boss Gareth Ainsworth a fitness boost after recovering from the bout of flu that ruled him out of last Saturday’s draw with York City. The striker’s return couldn’t have come at a better time with top scorer Dean Morgan ruled out of Saturday’s trip to Rochdale through suspension.
Elsewhere, Paris-Cowan-Hall, Josh Scowen and Jon-Paul Pittman all returned to action in Tuesday’s Berks & Bucks Senior Cup victory at Chalfont St Peter, while Matt Bloomfield got another 75 minutes under his belt.
“We didn’t play Stevie (at Chalfont) just because we didn’t want to weaken him any further,” Ainsworth told Chairboys Player.
“He was back and was ready to play, but that’s another thing we do – we monitor people and we make these decisions
“He’s a big part of what we do and he’s been getting a bit of stick with people saying it’s the tropical weather down south that’s he not used to!
“Stevie’s a real fighter and he won’t let something like a bit of flu keep him down.”
Ainsworth added: “Dean has obviously picked up five yellows and is serving a one-match ban now.
“Having a big forward choice was important in the summer and we signed some who we knew could all play in the team, along with Jo Kuffour and Matt McClure who were here last year.
“We’ve added Stevie and Jon-Paul and it’s been really good to not struggle and have to play myself up front like we had to a couple of times last year.
“Dean being out is a miss as he’s scoring and in form, but you look at the names who could potentially come in to replace him and I’m not worried at all.”
