Gareth Ainsworth says he’s immensely impressed with the way Max Kretzschmar has taken to life as a first-team player.
The 19-year-old capped a bright start to the season with his first two senior goals in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Hartlepool United.
“I’m so pleased for Max – it’s a whirlwind start for his career and he’s all smiles,” said Ainsworth.
“He’s worked really hard in the summer to come back how I want him. Everything you say to him, he takes it in 100 per cent. If you do that, you get results.
“He’s a clever player, very technical – he’s always had that side. It was the other side, the physical side, the energetic side and being able to compete with men in a game that means so much – he’s got that now. Max Kretzschmar is now a big part of my side.
“He’s a really energetic player. He’s a young lad with no fear. I remember when I was his age, I had no fear at all. It didn’t matter what the score was, I’d run anywhere and Max did that for me.
“He’s capped it off with two fantastic goals. I wouldn’t have been able to finish like that at 19. He’s got a composed head.”
