Wanderers season-ticket holder Mark Burrell experienced life as a director during the Blues’ 2-1 victory over Southend United on 31st August.
Mark was the lucky winner of one of the pre-season draws for supporters who had already purchased their season tickets for the 2013/14 campaign.
As well as getting to watch the match from the directors’ seats, Mark also enjoyed a pre-match meal and got the opportunity to meet the club’s board, as well as their counterparts from Southend.
He said: “Don Woodward and John and Sandie Derben were brilliant hosts from the moment I arrived, through drinks and meeting the other WWFC directors and parties from both the Southend board and Southend trust, the delicious lunch and through the game. A win made it all the better too!
“I've always looked to renew my Terrace season ticket as early as possible to help the club, so was delighted to be the first winner of the "early-bird" renewals competition.
“I know the new board are working to create a very different club so was really interested to see how it all works.
“Don, John and the other directors have moved mountains to establish the club on a strong footing and provide all us fans with a stable club that can give us the team and performances we want to see.
“Clearly huge progress has been made and often it is the little things that count like the board not dining in the boardroom, but eating with everyone else that was enjoying the club’s hospitality lounge.
“Overall it was a fantastic day and I feel very privileged to have experienced it. Also, as my career is as a management consultant specialising in transforming companies, I'm now looking to see what more I can do for the club.”
Despite the added luxury to his matchday experience, Mark did reveal there was one thing missing from his day, saying: “Not being able to give the ref some "constructive advice" during the match as I would from the terrace!”
