Max: Chairboys need to be clinical

27 November 2013

Max Kretzschmar says Wanderers created enough opportunities to beat Exeter City on Tuesday and need to start being more ruthless in front of goal.

minute and had one of the Blues’ late opportunities, but his drilled effort eluded everyone in the area and flew inches wide of the far post.stKretzschmar was heavily involved after his introduction in the 71

“It was frustrating, we got 1-0 up and Exeter came out sharp in the second half,” the midfielder told

“They had a 15-minute spell later on and scored, but we finished well.

“I had the chance at the end and we had a couple more. Gaz has told us that we need to be a bit more clinical and I agree with that.

“We’ve started slowly in games and we made sure that we started sharply, which I think we did. We kept the ball quite well without really penetrating them, but we did have a couple of chances and got the early goal. It was just a shame that they got one back at the end.

“Late on when it was 1-1 the game got stretched so there was more space inbetween the lines and down right-hand side where I was. It was good to be heavily involved, it was just a shame that we didn’t get the win.

“It was 1-1, we haven’t lost and we’ll go into the next game at Dagenham positive. It was Gaz’s first game there last year and I feel we’ve definitely improved. We know we’re a better team - it’s a case of proving it.”

Tickets for the game at Dagenham are still available to buy from the Wanderers and the club receive a small royalty from every seat purchased through them. Call 01494 441118 or visit the Information Centre at Adams Park.
