Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth says he couldn’t have wished for a better FA Cup second-round tie.
Ainsworth’s men will entertain his former club Preston North End on Saturday 7th December after a convincing 2-0 win at Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday.
The 40-year-old scored 15 goals in 111 appearances during three memorable spells with the Lilywhites.
“The FA Cup is a tournament that I hold in high prestige,” he said. “It’s a special competition so to get through to the next round and face Preston North End is fantastic for me.
“It’s a dream tie for me. I’m not sure we could have got a bigger tie for me personally. It’s a club I played over 100 games for in three different spells.
“It’s a really special one, but not just for me as we’ve got Stuart Beavon coming back too.
“It’s going to be a fantastic day and the lads deserve that, but we’ve got Chesterfield first and we’re not looking past that one at the moment.”
