Morgs looking to make his mark

14 May 2013

Dean Morgan says he is aiming to start the new season with a bang.

The 29-year-old, who agreed a new one-year deal on Monday, scored nine goals in 31 starts after joining the Wanderers in September and has his sights firmly set on beating that total in 2013/14.

“I’ve not set myself a target, but just to score more than I got last year,” Morgan told Chairboys Player.

“I missed a few games through injury, but hopefully this time I’ll have a good pre-season, get myself strong and even fitter, and be better than I was last year.

“I’ve enjoyed myself here and I do feel settled. I’m pretty much at home and I’m only half an hour/45 minutes from my mum’s house and all my friends and family are still there.

“I feel settled, but when people say I’ve had a lot of clubs it’s not because of my ability, it’s based on other things behind closed doors.

“I’m here now and that’s all I’m worried about.”

Morgan has built up a good rapport with the Wanderers support since arriving at Adams Park, with chants of ‘Deano’ frequently emanating from the Terrace, and the forward says that relationship is important to him.

He said: “That’s all you want. If you can give something to them then they’re always going to give something to you.

“I went into the stand not too long ago to show that we are just as much of a part of you as you are of us.”
