Horlock happy to be ‘home’

24 May 2013

Charlie Horlock says he can’t wait to get going in his second spell as a Chairboy.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper returned to Adams Park on Thursday after agreeing a one-year contract.
orlock joined the club as an U16 and enjoyed two years in the youth team before signing for Stevenage last summer.
He recently left Boro following the completion of his apprenticeship, paving the way for him to commit himself to the Wanderers for the 2013/14 campaign.

“I really enjoyed my time here first time around,” Horlock told Chairboys Player. “Everyone was great and I’m chuffed to be back.

“It definitely feels like home. I came in for a day’s training at the end of last season and everyone knew my name and made me feel welcome.”

The forthcoming campaign will see Horlock push his former U18s team-mate Matt Ingram for the No. 1 jersey.

“It will be good,” he said. “I worked with Matty for a couple of years the first time I was here. He’s an excellent keeper and excellent to work with so I’m looking forward to it.”

He concluded: “I’ve been working hard; in fact I haven’t really stopped since last season ended really. I’m trying to get fit and ready - I’m feeling fresh.
“I’d like to think I’ve improved, psychologically more than anything. I had a few knockbacks over the scholarship period, but I feel ready.”
