Charity event raises over £3,000

20 May 2013

Close to 100 fans joined forces with Matt Bloomfield, Sam Wood, Josh Scowen, Dave Winfield, Matt McClure and Leon Johnson to raise over £3,000 for the Blues in Kenya initiative on Saturday.

The entertaining evening, which was held in the Vere Suite at Adams Park, took the form of a sport quiz with Bloomfield captaining Winfield and McClure, and Wood skippering Scowen and Johnson.
As well as a number of quickfire question rounds, there were also ‘what happened next’ and observation rounds, a mini-golf obstacle course and a captains’ challenge which was filmed on the Adams Park pitch.
Blooms’ team eventually ran out winners on a tie-break after Wood, Scowen and Johnson had staged a late fightback.
There was also plenty of audience participation with a heads and tails game, picture round and hula-hoop challenge. The evening finished with a raffle and auction before Bloomfield took to the mic to explain just what he and the rest of the volunteers will be doing out in Nakuru next month.

The midfielder, who recently signed a new contract with the Chairboys to take him into his testimonial year, will be spending seven days in the poverty-hit region of the country, helping make repairs to a school, teaching and coaching football.
