Winfield: Build on Tuesday's triumph

1 March 2013

Skipper Dave Winfield has stressed the importance of the Wanderers backing up their performance against Torquay United against Fleetwood Town on Saturday (k.o 3pm).

Chairboys went into Tuesday’s game at Plainmoor on the back of three successive defeats, but dominated their opponents as they came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory.

“We said when we went on our run that the last result is only as good as the next one,” Winfield said.

“That’s very true and you can’t lose one, win one, and draw one. You need consistency. We’ll look to take that into Saturday. If we perform like we did against Torquay then there’ll only be one result.

“It was great character from the boys (at Torquay). We’ve shown it a couple of times this season when we’ve gone a goal behind.

“To come back and win the game is magnificent and I’d die for those boys and they’ve shown that they would do it for me.

“The amount of blocks and last-ditch tackles we put in were brilliant. For us defenders we got just as much buzz from doing that. It was a tough game, but we put our lives on the line and we got the result.”

Tickets for Saturday’s game start from just £5 for juniors and £16 for adults. Book online, by calling the ticket office on 01494 441118 or by visiting the Information Centre at Adams Park.
