Ainsworth aims for more away-day success

22 March 2013

Gareth Ainsworth says his side will take inspiration from the victories they’ve already picked up away from home this season as they make the trip to high-fliers Burton Albion on Saturday (k.o 3pm).

The hosts have won their last nine games at the Pirelli Stadium, but the Blues have enjoyed some of their best moments away from Adams Park, picking up victories at promotion-chasing Gillingham, Rotherham United and Fleetwood Town, as well as League 1 outfit Portsmouth.

“It’s a tough game, but away at Gillingham was tough and away at Torquay going a goal down was tough,” Ainsworth told Chairboys Player.

“We’ve been there before and I know I’ve got a squad capable of beating anyone in this game and especially this game on Saturday.

“We seemed to have lost the under-dog tag after the Gillingham game and everyone has been raising their game thinking ‘these are no push-overs’. That’s great because we’re not push-overs, the lads work hard and I’ve got a good squad.

“I’ve got confidence in all of my players and I’ve got some young lads who have great careers ahead of them and I’ve got some old pros who are fighting, battling and standing up. It’s great to see and if we can get that on Saturday then we won’t go far wrong.”
