Sam Wood says starting the new season at home is a big plus for the Blues.
Wanderers kick off the 2013/14 campaign with the visit of Morecambe, before away games at AFC Wimbledon and Oxford United are separated by a home fixture with Mansfield Town.
“It’s going to be good, I’m really looking forward to the first full season under Gaz,” the midfielder told wwfc.com.
“It’s great to be starting at home; hopefully we can kick off with a win in front of a good crowd and then push on from there.
“The two away games in August are exciting. We took loads of fans to Wimbledon and
last season and it would be great if we could do the same again.” Dates that some Chairboys fans would have looked for early on are the games against fellow fan-owned club
and Wood says those are fixtures that he is also looking forward to.
He said: “I missed the game at Pompey last season so I’m looking forward to that one. We end at Torquay so the fans can get some sun on the final day!”
The 26-year-old concluded by discussing a return to pre-season training next week, saying: “It’s always tough but it’ll be exciting. We’ve got a good group, we’ll make the new faces feel welcome and we’ll go again.”
