“He gives us another attacking option. He’s got pace, power and he’s exciting to watch, plus he’s a fans’ favourite.”
Ainsworth added: “He’s still got his best years ahead of him and I’m convinced he can flourish with us.
“He feels at home here and wants to be here. He fits perfectly in the culture we’ve created.”
Ainsworth told wwfc.com: “Having known him from his last time here, he’s a great character but more importantly he brings a lot to the team.
He joined Oxford United after leaving the Blues in 2011 and was the U’s stand-out performer against Gareth Ainsworth’s men in the fixture at the Kassam Stadium in April.
The 26-year-old also fired a memorable four-minute hat-trick in a pre-season friendly against Chelsea the following summer.
Pittman’s fans’ favourite status was emphasised after his late leveller against rivals Colchester United in October 2009.
After joining at the start of 2009 following a prolific spell at Crawley Town, JP enjoyed two promotions to League 1 in a two-and-a-half-year stint at Wycombe and went on to score 17 goals from 42 starts in the quarters.
