Ainsworth prepared to be patient

21 June 2013

Gareth Ainsworth says he’s willing to bide his time to make sure he gets the right players to bolster the Blues’ squad.

Monday on wwfc.com: Ainsworth’s thoughts on his first pre-season as a manager.

"When Joel’s ready, he’ll let us know."

"If he signs here, fantastic, if he moves to a higher club and a higher division then we’ve all got to be proud of what we did at Wycombe. If that happens, it’s up to us to replace him and get the best out of something else, that’s football, especially in the lower leagues.

"He’s taking his time," commented the 40-year-old. "There’s obviously a few clubs talking to Joel and we’ll see what happens.

Ainsworth had this to say regarding the future of attacker Joel Grant.

"We’ve got people on the list and I’ll be doing my best for Wycombe Wanderers. Hopefully we can improve on last season."

"There are a lot of parameters to take into consideration when signing a player. When they are all correct and in order, we’ll go for someone.

"There will be a number of players knocking around In July, August who may not have a club, but saying that I might move quickly as well!

He said: "We’re working hard but there’s still two-and-a-half months until the transfer deadline.
