Wanderers’ pre-season friendly at Burnham was postponed after the pitch was deemed unplayable.
He added: “There’s no relationship breakdown with Burnham – we’d happily come here again, but we weren’t willing to risk our players so close to the season.
“With first-team players coming back such as Gary Doherty and Josh Scowen, I wasn’t prepared to risk them to further injury so we took the risk out of it and I hope everyone understands. We’ve now got the game on Friday (Oxford City) to prepare for.”
Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth told wwfc.com: “Unfortunately the pitch wasn’t up to standard. It was dangerous and there was what can only be described as a bunker on the far side of the pitch.
The Gore playing surface was littered with pot holes and hard and bumpy underneath the grass, meaning the game wasn’t safe to go ahead.
“I feel for Steven Craig who needs minutes under his belt and Matt McClure was looking forward to this after coming back from injury.
“I wasn’t prepared to risk the younger players either. Every player is as important as each other in our squad.”
