Stuart Lewis says nothing comes close to stepping out on to the field as the Blues get ready to kick off their pre-season campaign.
Lewis and his team-mates have been worked hard by Gareth Ainsworth, but they’ll get their first match minutes under their belts on Saturday at Havant & Waterlooville (k.o. 3pm).
“It’s been tough,” the 25-year-old told Chairboys Player. “I think we're building up really well and everybody's come back really sharp and fit.
“Pre-season’s been really good - the atmosphere with the lads has been spot on.
“Until you actually get on the pitch with 45 minutes in a game though, you're always a bit off it.
“It’ll be good to get back in action and we're all raring to go.
“It was good to have a nice break, obviously last season was tough, but it's good to see everyone and we can't wait to get going now.”
Lewis could line-up alongside four new faces against the Blue Square South side and he says the summer signings have settled in well.
“We've got Paris (Cowan-Hall) who is lightning quick - I think only Charles Dunne can keep up with him so that should be a good test for a few defences in our league.
“JP (Jon-Paul Pittman) is back as is Chaz (Charlie Horlock), while Nick Arnold’s come in too.
“They've all settled in well and we’re just all looking forward to the songs for the first away trip!”
