Matt Ingram says he owes a lot to tonight’s opponents Oxford City after they played a major role in his development.the Blue Square North outfit lThe 19-year-old, who was handed the coveted No.1 shirt on Thursday, spent a highly successful loan spell at ast season before returning to Adams Park for the final eight games of the campaign.
“I played 30-odd games there and without them I wouldn’t be in the position I am now,” Ingram told Chairboys Player.
“I’ve got to say a big thank you to Oxford City and it will be nice returning.
“I’m really looking forward to the season now, especially with the No.1 on my back and it’s all about kicking on.
“You can’t let anything change. Last year I was No.13, but it won’t change this year despite being No.1. The status of it is something I’m looking forward to.”
Ingram added: “Pre-season’s been going well, working with Lee (Harrison).
“We’ve been working on bits of my game that he thought I needed to improve on from last year, but it’s going well and I’m feeling really good – I can’t wait for the Morecambe game.”
