“We’ll do it professionally, we’ll do it right and hopefully we’ll hit the ground running come 3rd August.”
“We’re really looking forward to the game; this is where we (coaches) earn our money. We want to pit our wits against other teams and managers.
Ainsworth added: “We’ll also have a look at a couple of players the fans won’t have seen before.
“The lads have been going 90% against each other in training, this will be 100%. There’ll be tackles flying in and we want to win the game, but mainly it’s about getting 45 minutes into each player’s legs, maybe 60, and then we’ll see where we are.”
He said: “It’s just about getting 45 minutes under their belts. I’m sure Havant will be up for it as non-league sides always are against league teams. That’s great as it gives us bit of competition.
The 40-year-old explained how he’ll use his players in the first friendly.
August, that’s the one for me.” rd “I want to feel alive again on the touchline and get my teeth back into games. I can’t wait for Saturday, but I can’t wait for 3
“The day I lose that passion, desire and will to win – you feel so alive when you’re managing the team, when you’re playing in the team.
“A game’s a game,” he told Chairboys Player. “At the pool, I wanted to get in and push Junior when he was flagging behind, but that’s who I am.
