Junior Morias and Lee Angol both scored on their debuts as Hendon beat Croydon 3-1 last night (Wednesday).
The duo joined the Ryman Premier Division side on five-week loan deals on Tuesday and made an immediate impact with Morias opening the scoring from the spot after being fouled in the area, and Angol then adding a late third in front of watching Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth.
“The loan is purely about their development,” Ainsworth told Chairboys Player. “Junior has started a couple of games and not finished them. I’d like him to play some 90 minutes and he needs that in his game.
“He can handle himself. He’s a strong lad and he’s an impact player at the moment. If we can turn him into a starter and he can make an impact from the start and get him lasting games then in the future he will be a good player.
“Lee Angol is slightly different. He has all the talent in the world and is a fantastic player feet-wise and now he needs to learn a little bit of the physical side, the challenging side, winning headers and tackles and also winning games.
“That’s something you can’t teach people, you have to experience it and experience the grit and the desire to win – to win at all costs sometimes. They’ll learn that where they’ve gone so hopefully they can come back stronger players and I’ll be watching them, keeping tabs on them.”
Ainsworth added: “It’s not like they’re out of sight, out of mind. I’ll make a keen effort going to see them and I’ve been down to Havant to watch Jesse. They’re my players and I’m proud of them and want to see how they’re doing.”
