“Whoever comes, you’re very welcome. Get behind the team and hopefully we can put on a show for you.”

“Come down and watch us, hopefully we can keep it going. But you know me, I deal with who wants to support us – they are the positives ones.

He said: “Dagenham seems like an age ago. We gave ourselves a little bit of publicity on the TV on Monday night and people were saying what a great advert it was for League 2.

Saturday sees the Chairboys return to Adams Park for the first time in three weeks and Ainsworth is looking forward to playing in front of the home faithful again.

“We need to keep everyone on the ground but we’ve got to be proud of what we’ve done so far.”

“We’re not the finished article, not by a long shot, there’s still a lot of work to do but I’m excited to do that work, and what a base to start with.

“Dave Winfield put in an awesome captain’s performance on Monday and everyone seemed to buzz off him. A team of winners is emerging.

“Because we’re defending well, are solid and resilient, it gives the attackers that extra little bit of confidence to try things,” he told Chairboys Player.

Ainsworth’s men have kept clean sheets and gone forward in an exciting way in their last two outings – 1-0 wins over Dagenham & Redbridge and Gillingham.
