Adams Park played host to the first semi-final of Samsung’s Win A Pro Contract competition on Sunday.
Following the semi-finals, the hopefuls will again be whittled down, this time to just 22, with the remaining trialists taking part in a final match at Swindon’s County Ground on Sunday 12th January.
Three-hundred-and-sixty hopefuls were put through their paces in a series of skills tests and mini matches at six regional trials across the UK to reach this stage after almost initially 6,000 applied!
The same will occur in the second semi-final at the Matchroom Stadium this Sunday as players bid for one of three professional contracts with the Wanderers, Leyton Orient and Swindon Town.
Forty-four of the 88 amateur footballers that progressed to the penultimate stage of the initiative took part in two 11-a-side games in front of the watching Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth and assistant Richard Dobson. Then, a select group of players from the final are invited by the three clubs to spend a week training with the managers and first teams, before the final decisions are made.
