Gareth Ainsworth says the busy Christmas schedule can help the Blues reignite their Sky Bet League 2 campaign.
Wanderers make the trip to Northampton Town on Saturday and that game marks the start of a run of fixtures that will see them play five times in just 15 days.
“Last year we had a great Christmas period, although there was a 4-0 defeat against Cheltenham in there!” Ainsworth told Chairboys Player.
“We’ve come a long way, we are progressing and I’m hoping that this Christmas period can be fruitful for us.
January because it’s the right thing to do.th“A lot gets talked about (the busy schedule), but the main thing for me is that the lads will be in near enough every day and will only have one or two off in the whole period until 6
“We want them to recover and there will be boys who aren’t in the squad who will be coming into the squad, and they need to be training and be ready for when their chance comes.”
Last year’s beaten play-off finalists Northampton have struggled so far this season and lie second from bottom in the table.
However, their form has picked up in recent weeks and Aidy Boothroyd’s side have won three and drawn two of their last seven games.
Ainsworth added: “They’re a physical side and Aidy Boothroyd is known for that, but reports are saying that they’ve been playing a bit lately as well.
“Chris Hackett was here a couple of years ago and he’s a danger on the wing and they’ve got big Platt up front. There are names in there that we have to be aware of.
“We went there in November last year and that’s when we went bottom of the league, but we created a lot of chances and could have scored a hatful that day, and maybe we can stick some of them in the goal this time.”
Fancy the Blues to return to winning ways at Sixfields? If so then Ainsworth’s men can be backed at 15/8 to return home with all three points.
