Gareth Ainsworth says he side showed their character as they reacted in the best possible manner to push league leaders Oxford United all the way on Saturday.
-minute equaliser denied the Blues the three points they deserved after Dean Morgan’s brace had twice given them the lead. thWanderers went into the game on the back of a disappointing display against Mansfield, but only a controversial 96
Ainsworth said: “I’m immensely proud. That’s the overwhelming emotion after most games, but especially today. They were fantastic and gave me everything they had.
“The onslaught came and obviously we had 10 men in the second half, but I still feel like we were the better side for most of the game.
“I think 11 v 11 we take the win.”
He added: “My lads are down, but to play like they have done with 10 men for 50 minutes they should be elated and so proud because I’m proud of them
“I’m looking forward to next week now and last week was definitely just a blip against Mansfield - I’ve taken a lot of the blame for that as the manager.
“I’m really pleased with the way they reacted. We had a couple of new faces and I thought Billy Knott was outstanding on his debut.
“Dean Morgan came back into the team and he showed me that he wants to keep his place. That’s what I want – competition for places and that’s what they’ve given me.”
