Duo doubtful for Barnet battle

19 April 2013

Gareth Ainsworth says he won’t risk Dave Winfield and Matt McClure in Saturday’s fixture at Barnet.

However, they will welcome back Crystal Palace loanee Kyle De Silva after he served his suspension.

Barnet will be without Barry Fuller, who has had his ban extended by a further two games after an altercation with the referee after the final whistle against Dagenham & Redbridge.

“They are both big players and I wouldn’t risk either of them. They are both probably 60-40 against but stranger things have happened.”

“As for Dave, I won’t risk him unless he’s 100% fit. He hasn’t trained yet this week so we’ll be looking at that.

“We’ll look at that over the summer and do some work with him to make sure we keep him injury-free. He’s touch-and-go if I’m honest.

“We’d worry if Matt’s injury was the same each time but it’s not,” said Ainsworth. “Dobbo’s theory about the growing pains might be justified because he keeps picking up these little niggles.

Centre-back Winfield missed Tuesday’s draw with Northampton Town with a calf problem, while frontman McClure had to be replaced during the clash with the Cobblers with a knee complaint.
