Lewis: "Let's show what we can do"

5 September 2012

Stuart Lewis says the Wycombe squad have a major point to prove when Cheltenham Town visit Adams Park on Saturday (k.o 3pm).

Wanderers produced a disappointing display last weekend at Southend United and Lewis believes that every player must give more.

He said: “There have been a few words said and a few home truths. It's at that point as men that we've got to stand up to it and say, ‘Come on, let's show what we can do’, because at the minute we are not.

“We’ve got 43 games to go and it’s a long way to go, but we need more. Each individual needs to put that extra little bit in.”

Reflecting on the performance at Southend, Lewis added: “I don’t think there are too many things I can say or any excuses, it just wasn’t good enough. Second half at times we showed what we are about, but not as often as we should have.

“We’re hugely disappointed with the performance we produced and it wasn’t good enough.

“It's no good going out there and being passing and pretty. The first thing we've got to do is give that 100 per cent and close down and be horrible to play against, then it will come. We didn't do that and we've got no excuses. For everyone that travelled that wasn’t good enough.”
