Grant: Players have a duty to perform

17 September 2012

Joel Grant says it is the players’ responsibility to end Wycombe’s poor run of recent results.

Wanderers were beaten 3-1 at Chesterfield on Saturday, but Grant, who impressed once again, saw enough positives to believe things will turnaround quickly.

“It is disappointing and I just feel sorry for everyone at the moment,” he said.

“The fans and the staff, particularly, because they have done everything they can to try and help us perform and, at the moment, we are just missing something.

“That is down to the 11 players who start the game and the substitutes.”

Grant added: “Gary (Waddock) is one of the best managers I have had and it is disappointing for him because, when you lose games, people look at the manager. But he can't do anything more for us.

“We just need to get a result. I almost feel one of the teams are going to get a real hiding.

“I hope we can have a bit more patience from the crowd and the board to stick with the group that we have got because I feel we can turn it around.”
