Matt McClure says his season starts now after getting off the mark in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Plymouth Argyle.
The 20-year-old headed in Gareth Ainsworth’s pinpoint cross to give the Blues a 12th-minute lead, and the Wanderers’ performance was a big improvement on recent weeks.
“It felt like a win,” McClure told Chairboys Player. “We have been used to losing and the performance, the character and the work-rate all comes down from Gaz. We all want to do it for him, win him games and get him the job.”
He added: “I feel good. Earlier in the season it hasn't been happening for me and I haven't been involved. I haven't really been on top of my game but I feel a lot sharper and fresher and it is always nice to get a start or a goal.
“I just felt a big sluggish. I was doing everything right, was eating the right foods but it just hasn't been happening.
“Maybe it's the confidence Gaz has shown in me but there has just been a spark. Only three boys have scored so there is a place up for grabs. Hopefully I will get another start on Saturday and nail it down.”
