Caretaker boss Gareth Ainsworth says Wycombe must start games better after opponents Oxford United took the lead in the fourth minute on Saturday.
The Blues have been sharp out of the blocks for much of Ainsworth’s spell in charge, scoring after 13 seconds against Portsmouth, nine minutes at Fleetwood Town and 12 minutes against Plymouth Argyle, but on Saturday they struggled early on, as they did at home to Barnet last Tuesday.
“We started badly being 1-0 down after four minutes and that enabled Oxford to sit back and soak up some pressure.
“We played better in the second half, but we didn’t play well enough in the first half again. We are going to have to address this as that is two games running now.”
He added: “On Tuesday going forward was an issue, but we had that security of a clean sheet and that will get you at least a point. Oxford took their chances and that’s what cost us.
“We went out the second half thinking we could still win the game. We finished the first half really well and we dominated the last 10 minutes of it and had chances to get back in the game.
“Even after they scored their second I thought there were still goals in us and there was with the penalty. At one behind I thought we could back into it, but going two behind again was a real blow.”
