Winfield wants drive and passion

6 November 2012

Dave Winfield says the Blues must move on from Saturday’s FA Cup exit at Crewe Alexandra and kick-start their season at his former club Aldershot Town tonight (k.o. 7.45pm).

Winfield started his career at Aldershot and went on to win the Conference and Setanta Shield in the 2007/08 season.

Despite the campaign being less than three months old, it’s a big game for both sides with only goal difference separating Wycombe and the Shots at the foot of npower League 2.
He said: "We've got to draw a line under that. Next game's Aldershot - we've got to go there, show commitment, drive, passion to get anything out of the game. If we don't, we won't."

"I'm always honoured to be skipper, whenever I'm out there," he said. "I love this club to bits and I will always give everything for this club. I hope the fans can see that.

With the availability of Gary Doherty (back) unclear, the 24-year-old may keep the captain’s armband for the visit to the EBB Stadium after leading the Chairboys for over an hour at the weekend.

It's a privilege. I hope we can knuckle down and get out of this situation."
Meanwhile, caretaker boss Gareth Ainsworth has demanded a reaction from his players to the 4-1 defeat at the Alexandra Stadium.

"They know what they have got to give. They know they owe a performance. I’m sure the lads who played today will be up for Tuesday."
