Gareth Ainsworth says Tuesday’s 3-2 victory at Rotherham United had been on the cards for a while.
However, this time around the Blues were clinical in front of goal and fully deserved the three points.
The Chairboys had created a number of chances in their previous two games, but failed to take them before slipping to defeats.
“It’s been coming,” Ainsworth told Chairboys Player. “I was a bit down in the interviews after the game on Saturday and I thought that’s not me.
“I’ve made sure I’ve been positive since and getting them all back up again. It’s important that we lifted the spirits.
“I said before the game that we are a good bunch now and a real tight bunch. I could see these boys going out together, winning, losing, battling and scrapping together. I’ve seen that tonight, I saw it against Rochdale and I saw it against Northampton on Saturday.
Ainsworth added: “It showed character. I don’t remember the last time we went behind and came back into a game like that. You’re probably going back seasons. We definitely haven’t done it this season where we’ve gone behind, come back and actually won.
“Unfortunately those results didn’t go our way, although the performances warranted more. Now we’ve got the result on top of the performance and I’m over the moon for the boys because they deserve it.”
“We should never have been behind and I will never let them start like that again. They had a real rollicking at half-time for that, but they came out and showed me what they wanted in the second half, deserved it and killed the game off well. I thought that we were fantastic.”
