Waddock on his super six

Gary Waddock says he's pleased with the squad dynamic after bringing six new faces to Adams Park.

"He's a talented player, is technically very good and will be a presence up top," said Waddock.

Last of the six new recruits is striker Richard Logan, who has more than 370 professional appearances under his belt and has achieved back-to-back promotions with Exeter City.

"Lee was unfortunate at Tottenham and didn't get the professional contract that he wanted, but he's a talented player who we hope will be able to develop here."

"Oli is another versatile player who can operate on the right-hand side or up front. He's also familiar with this division and I know Den from our QPR days so I'd like to think I can get the best out of him.

Waddock said: "Sam knows this division, having achieved promotion with Brentford a couple of years back. He will provide a good balance down the left-hand side in an attacking way because he can play in midfield or at full-back.

Fellow midfielders Sam Wood, Dennis Oli and Lee Angol have arrived from Brentford, Gillingham and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

"Like Doc, he's experienced, knowledgeable and is a very good footballer who I've known for a long time."

"He made his debut alongside me," he said. "I was coming towards the end of my career and Springy was at the beginning of his so he did most of my running!

Another seasoned professional that Waddock has brought in is midfielder Matt Spring, who Wycombe's boss knows well from their time together at Luton Town.

Waddock said: "He showed what he can do last season. He's experienced, knowledgeable and performs to a good standard regularly which is why I made him captain."

Centre-back Doherty, who has since been made captain, returned to the club on a permanent two-year deal after impressing on loan from Charlton Athletic last season.

"They're doing really well, settled into the group quickly. They're all good characters and the group have taken to them well."
