Surgery sidelines Doherty

20 December 2012

Gary Doherty has been ruled out for six weeks after undergoing an operation on his back.

Matt Spring, Joel Grant and Matt McClure are suspended for the battle with the Bantams.

Ainsworth said: “Anthony’s back from the treatment room and training. That’s a plus for the squad.”

There’s some good news regarding Anthony Stewart, who has returned to full training following a thigh injury.

“You never know though, there’s another 24 hours before the final day’s training. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”

“Dave missed Saturday because of a hamstring and he’ll be in contention more than Dean will. Dean could struggle.

“Both of those are touch and go for Saturday,” Gareth Ainsworth told Chairboys Player. “Dean came off with a hamstring and he’s probably further away than Dave.

Winfield missed Saturday’s 2-0 win at Accrington Stanley with a hamstring complaint, while Morgan was replaced at half-time with a similar problem.

Meanwhile, Dave Winfield and Dean Morgan are doubts for this weekend’s visit of Capital One Cup semi-finalists Bradford City.

The experienced defender went under the knife on Tuesday to alleviate a problem with a disc in his lower back.
