Vice-captain Matt Bloomfield says he met some inspirational people during the squad’s visit to Stoke Mandeville Hospital on Thursday afternoon.
The full Wycombe squad were due to go, but new regulations meant that numbers had to be reduced so Bloomfield, Gareth Ainsworth, Joel Grant, Marvin McCoy, Anthony Stewart, Dave Winfield and Dean Morgan went to meet patients on the children’s ward and spinal ward.
They handed out goody bags which included a signed team poster, hat and scarf, Christmas stocking and cuddly toys. Bloomfield said: “People in the spinal unit were truly inspirational. It’s heartbreaking enough to see the kids in here any time of the year, let alone at Christmas. Being able to brighten up their day for five minutes was great.
